Rainbow Trout

Only stocked in Community Fishing Program Ponds.

Body heavily spotted all the way to the tips of a slightly forked tail. Back usually dark olive transitioning to silvery-white underneath with a pink/red stripe running lengthwise along the fish’s sides.

Native to North America west of the Rocky Mountains from Alaska to Mexico. They have been introduced/stocked into most, if not all, states in the union.

Hot Louisiana summer temperatures prevent reproduction and, in most cases, over summer survival. Louisiana Rainbow Trout are primarily used in wintertime put and take fisheries where fish are stocked in small ponds for urban angler enjoyment.

Fishing Methods
Conventional Tackle under a bobber or tight lined using worms, marshmellows, powerbait, meal worms, crickets
