Tackle Tips: Jigs, spinner baits, and soft plastics are the most frequently used tackle for largemouth bass fishing in the Lake Fields/Lake Long complex. Shiners and tube jigs are the most frequently used baits when targeting crappie. Catfish and bream species can be fished for with live or artificial bait.
Other Notes: Submerged vegetation is the primary cover found in Lake Fields/Lake Long complex, and is present in Lake Long, as well as in the adjacent canals and bayous. Pilings and structures associated with industrial facilities also offer a small amount of cover in the canal systems. Largemouth bass is the most popular sportfish targeted in the system. Fish are managed with a 10 fish bag limit/no minimum length limit. Sunfish and channel catfish are abundant in the lakes, bayous, and canals.
